Baby you’re a firework…

New favorite song courtesy of Katy Perry…

Firework

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind
Wanting to start again

Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards
One blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under scream
But no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that there’s still a chance for you
Cause there’s a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ‘em what your worth
Make ‘em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you’re a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make ‘em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gunna leave ‘em fallin’ down-own-own

You don’t have to feel like a waste of space
You’re original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you’re reason why all the doors are closed
So you can open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it’s time, you’ll know

You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July

Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ‘em what your worth
Make ‘em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you’re a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make ‘em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gunna leave ‘em fallin’ down-own-own

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through

Cause baby you’re a firework
Come on show ‘em what your worth
Make ‘em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby you’re a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make ‘em go “Oh, oh, oh!”
You’re gunna leave ‘em goin “Oh, oh, oh!”

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

In the pink of an eye…

Hello Readers,

Yes, I’m posting.  The universe has given me a day home today…the price?  A severe case of pink eye.  Pink is my favorite color but not when it’s taken residence in my right cornea.    A third little one was sent home from my class yesterday with it and by 3pm, it was settling in.  Against my better judgment, I went on to my League meeting.  Arriving home last night my eye was swollen and by the time I woke up 2-3 times during the night to clean it out, I knew I was losing the battle.   I have always been a big believer in the the quote, “Go Big or Go Home.” and the Urgent Care MD informed me that it was a pretty severe case so at least it didn’t waste anytime getting worse.  Anyhow, as my immune system continues to take a beating, I hope that it is building up strength.

Other than my health things are going pretty well.  I find that age 30 is bringing a lot of fun experiences and adventures.  I can’t wait to see what is next…

I am in the process of redoing some of the elements of my blog with some help.  Changing the header up a bit and the layout as well.  I can’t wait to show you!

In other blog news, a very big thank you to Christian at A Note on the Screen Door for my 2nd blog award!  I am going to post 7 things about me and pass it on to 3 other bloggers out there.  Stay tuned for that lady today!

Off to rest my eyes…

Fall for Saturday

Ever since I took my new job, I have fallen in love with Saturdays all over again! I am so excited about weekends now, it is not even funny! I may be more overzealous about it than the average person. I spent this morning n bed until about 8:30 or so. Maybe that isn’t “sleeping in” for some of you but when you wake up at 6:30am every weekday morning, that extra two hours is heaven. Soon after the dogs were walked, mom and I headed to our local bakery and ended up running into an old friend who introduced us to a new friends. And she’s about my age!!!

Isn’t that funny that even as adults we get excited just like when were were children to meet friends who are in our age bracket?!

Even more so, she’ll lives in our ‘hood with her parents. Whoop someone to relate too!

At any rate, it seems like we will be great friends.

Well I’m off to get my haircut and to Asheville’s 2010 BlogAid.

Have a happy and beautiful weekend!

Just another dreary Saturday…

How thrilled I was to wake up to this:

I know very dreary and gloomy but it’s been so hot here, we need the rain and the overcast temperatures.  Life is going to change for me in a few weeks and I’m very excited about.  I just have some things to work through before I can announce it to the world.

I expect turning 30 to be a great year.  My twenties were not easy so I’m happy to kiss them goodbye.  Way too many growing pains to count, I’m sure I’ll have more of those but I need a little break.  People keep asking me if I have any thirty-year goals, I want to achieve.  I’ve been thinking about this and have compiled a list.

1)  Be more spontaneous.  I’ve struggled with this since the age of 15.  I like my plans and I like sticking to them.  However, that’s not always a good thing.

2) Fall in LOVE.  I’ve never been n love and really I’ve never had a boyfriend.  Please don’t act so shocked, I am a very guarded person and have had lots of chances but have shied away.

3) Be content with who I am.  I operate differently then a lot of people.  I am highly intuitive and sometimes people just don’t get that or think I’m weird.  All that causes me to be self-conscious.

4) Learning the word “No”.  I get taken advantage of quite often because of that “yes” word.  No more.

5) Honor my relationships more.  I am pretty good friend but I get slack sometimes.  I’ve seen a lot of people go pretty quickly out of my life but the ones who are sticking are amazing people.

6) Publish a chapbook or some sort of book.  I’m a writer and I want to be known for it.

Those of you who are turning 30 or have turned 30, how did you feel about it?

Have a beautiful day!

Friday I’m in love…

WITH LIFE!

People are just about my favorite part of this thing called life. I love having conversations with people, hanging out with people, meeting new people, championing for people and having people do the same for me.

I turn 30 in less than a month and life certainly where I thought it would be but that’s okay.

I love when people challenge me hence the question posed to me yesterday:

“Adrienne, you’re turning 30, what do you want to do?”

insert cricket noise here

Okay fine, it didn’t take me that long to answer but it was a challenging question. There are many things I want to do and there are many things that I thought would be completed by this point in my life. I don’t have full time job and while it isn’t bringing the financial security I desire, it has brought a lot of time to explore things.

But I think it’s time to end this exploratory trip. I’ve applied for many full time jobs and have been told how great I am however it never seems to work out at the end. The good news is that I have a lot of people championing for me including a new connection I met yesterday. The difficult news is that I have to continue the honor the voluntary things I do and welcome in things that will generate a livable income for me. So please wish me luck:)

It’s tough to fit all my talents into one full time job…or maybe two part time jobs:)

Have a beautiful weekend!

2009: A reflection

Happy New Year’s Eve!  I hope that you are excited for your plans tonight!  I am headed to The Corner Kitchen for a wonderful prefix, great cocktails and awesome wine.

2009 was a tough year for me.  In fact my late 20s have been tough as a whole.  2009 really solidified some not so pleasant things in my life and gave me a lot of growing pains.  A few examples:  1) my parents are no longer married.  Their divorce was final in November of 2008 and I have spent the past year dealing with that.  I haven’t seen my dad since the summer and that’s really hard.  2) I learned the hard way that sometimes certain people in your life only step in for a little bit and then exit.  Friends/people can be like the seasons; they can change at the stroke of a chilly wind.  However, I do see the growth I experienced in 2009.  I am a little bit tougher and feel I have gotten better at making decisions that are free from pleasing others and move along a more important line:  the best decision for ME.

I haven’t written down or really thought of any resolutions for 2010 but as right now, I need to embrace the spontaneity of it all.  I’ve always been a big planner and I need to really let go and let life just happen.

Happy New Year!  May you enjoy your night wherever it may lead.  Please be safe!

:)

Friday Favorites

A second cold in a month has prevented me from venturing outside today and even caused me to call the school I was supposed to sub for today and cancel.  Total FAIL.  At any rate, I’ve been meaning to start Friday Favorites on La Vita e Bella for a while now so thanks to the cold I have the time.  I decided to focus on favorite things I enjoy when I’m under the weather.  What are your favorite comforting things when you are feeling a little less than stellar?

1.  Bed.  Yes, bed=sleep/rest.  I don’t necessarily sleep the whole day but I think my body appreciates the rest from the chaos I call my life.

2.  Vitamin C=Love the stuff in any form and it;s good even when you are not sick!

3.  Hot tea or hot chocolate=hot tea is the more healthy choice but anything warm on a sore/scratchy throat will do.

4.  Books/Magazines=Being an avid reader I enjoy the extra time to curl up with a book.  I finished The Kite Runner which was AMAZING!

Happy <cough> Friday Readers!

Looks like I am not alone in my confession
