Mardi Gras and Lent Commitments
Happy Mardi Gras other wise known as Fat Tuesday. The deifiton courtesy of Wikipedia: The terms “Mardi Gras” (pronounced /ˈmɑrdi grɑː/), “Mardi Gras season“, and “Carnival season“, in English, refer to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Epiphany and ending on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday” (in ethnic English tradition, Shrove Tuesday), referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which started on Ash Wednesday.
Now, I am not Catholic but I do tend to indulge in certain things a lot that prevent me from doing more healthier activities which led me to actually commit to giving something up for Lent. I went back and fourth and narrowed it down to cocktails and sweets (cake, candy, cookies, etc.,). My mother told me because she will probably still be living under the same roof as me that I could not give up both or she would have to move out;) I easily can stop drinking at any given moment so I chose sweets.
This is going to be very very hard…in fact in honor of this commitment, I bought a bag of M&Ms on Saturday…they are gone…
Wish me luck readers…What are you giving up? Or what would you give up if you absolutely had to for 40 days and nights?
Happy Tuesday!
