Friday Favorites: Great Ideas

Happy Friday Readers!

I’ve been slow on the the blog this week and I apologize.  I do have five great ideas to share with you this week about being a proactive blogger/social media maven.  These are things I have learned from my short time here and are really helping me keep up!

1)  Blog Makeovers:  With all the themes out there, it is pretty easy to change up the look of your blog every once in while.  I am working on this here as I am learning about my theme, Thesis 1.7.  I am also researching and getting quotes for a custom blog header.  I hope to have it up by June.  Any ideas for me?

2) Comments:  To give is to to receive.  You can’t expect someone to read and/or comment on your blog if you don’t do it yourself!  I have TONS of blogs that show up in my Google Reader daily and I try my best to comment on a different one each day.  Don’t comment just to comment either.  Say something meaningful even if it’s a “Hi, like your blog” type of comment.  It makes the blogger feel special and tells them people are actually reading!

3)Tweets/DMS:  Tweeting is great and a great way to spread the word about your blog or things that interest you.  But Tweeting is a form of communication and everyone who tweets needs to engage with those around them.  Say Hello or ask how someone is doing.  Don’t just use tweeting or DMS just to sell yourself.  Look at the BIGGER picture!

4)Think outside the box:  We all have different interests and types of blogs we like to read.  But don’t be afraid to subscribe to a few that may be outside your zone.  You may get some great ideas of your own or find some more readers:)

5)  READ:  Read!!!  Read other people’s blogs, articles, magazines, books ,etc.  In order to be a good write, you have to read good writing!

What are some of the things you have learned about social media?

Have a great weekend!
